San Felipe del Morro Castle also known as   Morro Castle, is a 16th-century citadel located in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Construction was begun in 1539 by the Spanish to protect and control the entrance of San Juan Harbor. The Port San Juan Lighthouse was added in 1843. The smooth rocks near the castle base have been eroded by almost 500 years of storms and waves.
